Israeli Forces Conduct New Raid in Syria’s Quneitra Countryside

(MENAFN) Israeli military forces carried out another raid on Wednesday in Syria’s southern Quneitra countryside, marking a continued breach of Syrian sovereignty.

A contingent of 60 soldiers and 15 military vehicles entered Ufania village in northern Quneitra, firing flares as they advanced, according to reports from state-run media.

The operation followed a similar incursion on Tuesday, during which Israeli forces detained a young man who was herding sheep in the southern part of the governorate.

Israeli forces have conducted near-daily operations in Quneitra, including detaining civilians, setting up checkpoints, questioning passersby, and damaging farmland.

After the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its control over the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, violating the 1974 disengagement agreement.

Syrian officials say these ongoing incursions are destabilizing the region and obstructing government efforts to attract investment and improve the country’s economic conditions.
