Israel Prepares for Possible US-Backed Strike on Iran’s Missile System
According to reports, the scenario of Israel striking Iran’s missiles is unfolding amid growing attention on whether "US President Donald Trump will order the attack on Iran."
Recent assessments by Israeli security officials suggest an increasing likelihood of a US strike on Iran following the latest diplomatic discussions between Washington and Tehran. As stated by reports, "according to assessments by the security establishment and contrary to Iran’s public statements at the conclusion of the Geneva talks, significant gaps remain that the US is unable to bridge, particularly the demand that Iran abandon uranium enrichment on its own territory."
"Given that the negotiations have reached a dead end, Israel expects Trump to resort to the military option within a shorter timeframe than anticipated in recent days," the reports added.
Israeli authorities are not ruling out "the possibility of the Israeli army taking an active role in fighting Iran in the event of a US attack."
The reports also note close coordination between Israel and the US in intelligence, IT, military communications, and air defense.
A recent round of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program took place in Geneva, mediated by Oman, following an earlier session in Muscat on February 6, according to reports.
